A video of me removing the string grid from the wall once I had pinned up all my photographs. I was really impatient as I wanted to remove the string as soon as possible, so I had to restrain myself until I had put them all up. The easiest way to remove the string was to pull from one end through in between the images and the other masking tape strip.

Final Major Project Exhibition

Photographs of all my finished and displayed elements to my exhibition. In the left half of the booth I have my large scale ink painting which is situation on the back wall in the middle. At the left and right hand walls of the piece are sixty pinhole photographs pinned into the wall at the same height as the painting (thirty on each side). Forty-four of the pinholes have black and white illustrations on them of my peers three minute drawings, while the remaining sixteen are plain pinholes I took from around college or other locations in Foundation that weren’t people’s studio space.

The right half of the booth contains nineteen paper crafted cctv cameras that are pointing in useless and satirical directions.
Overall, I am incredibly happy with my exhibition and I am proud of the variety of work I have been able to present. I feel that my exhibition is a visual representation of my time on the course and how both my style of working and my skill has developed and improved over the year.

I wanted to place my paper cameras in the same location as when I made my mock version. It would have been a good idea to have numbered my photograph and number the corresponding camera at the time, but I didn’t think of that so today I sat with all my cameras in front of me and tried to match them up; a task that took a surprising amount of time. When attaching my cameras to the wall, I can’t say I have the positioning spot on for each camera, but close enough that I am happy with their placement.

All day I have been pinhole photographing the remaining booths and studio spaces of my peers. I also took some new photographs of a handful of peoples booths where I wasn’t happy with the first attempt. I now have 44 photographs- a full set- of everyones work spaces. However, I need 60 photos to exhibit, so I need 16 more. I have 16 other pinhole photographs but no drawings to put over the top of them.

Alan suggested photocopying the drawings black and white and displaying a few up for me to see. I prefer these to the coloured versions as they are more subdued. The only issue with this is I have photocopied a photocopy so the quality of the original photograph has decreased each time. I have been able to get various tones and shades from copying the coloured version, which I won’t have if I just draw directly onto thew first enlarged photograph as I will only have black and white Posca pens.

I made another grid marking out of thread on the opposite wall and stuck up 14 plain photographs. I am undecided as to which photographs, drawn or plain, to display at exhibition. The drawings convey that freedom of expression, however they look too busy in the space. The plain photographs also convey the same message, but more subtly. I want people to look at the photographs and be able to pick out shapes or recognisable objects from within them, but having the drawings over the top hides the photos. The plain photos also reflect true CCTV camera stills from footage captured, whereas the bright colours of the drawings makes it all lighthearted.
